New names on Dogal steel grades

At the beginning of 2008 the names on most of our Dogal steel grades will change. The changes are carried out in order to clarify the picture of the Dogal steels and to adjust the steel grades to the European standards. The changes also means that the names on the Dogal steel grades will be more similar to the corresponding Docol grades.

Mild Steels

The mild steels will change their names according to the table below starting from the 1:st of January 2008. All grades fulfil EN 10327 except Dogal Form F40 where the yield strength maximum is 200 MPa (180 MPa in the standard). The properties of Dogal 200 are tighter than on the previous B500. The yield strength minimum has increased from 140 MPa to 200 MPa, and the interval for the tensile strength is narrowed from 270-500 MPa down to 300-440 MPa. Besides this the elongation minimum is increased from 22% to 24%.

High Strength Low Alloyed Steels

The previous names on our micro alloyed steels “Dogal xxxYP” is replaced by “Dogal xxxLAD” (Low Alloyed/micro alloyed Steels). The steel grades are adjusted to the new European standard EN 10292. The YP grades are gradually phased out during 2007 and from 1:st of January 2008 all YP-grades will need an exemption to be approved for production. The table below shows the new LAD grades.

Structural Steels

The names on the standardized high-strength structural steels are adjusted to the names in the standard for these. The names are shown in the table below. The changes are implemented from 1:st of January 2008.

Advanced High Strength Steels

Our advanced high strength steels are not changing their names. They are named as shown in the table below.
